Trunk or Treat

Tonight we went to "trunk or treat" at Prince of Peace with the MOMS group I am apart of. We got to dress Campbell up in her halloween costume and hand out candy to lots of adorable kids. Campbell loved wearing her costume and looking at all the fun halloween decorations. We met Maureen, Scott and baby Daniel there. Here are some pics from our night....

Campbell is 9 months old...yesterday!

Wow...I can't believe how quickly the last 9 months have flown by! Our little baby is is getting so big. We went to her 9 month Dr.'s appointment this morning. She weighs 20.2 lbs and is 29 inches long. That puts her in the 75% in weight and 97% in height. Not sure where she is getting the height from...maybe her Grandpa! Her head measured in the 95%...we know where that comes from....daddy! Eric always says that his head has not grown since the 2nd grade :) We keep telling her that a big head means big brains!! Anyway, Dr. G said she looks great and said she was developing perfectly. She can now start to eat pretty much anything, within reason of course...no eggs, fish, nuts, chips, candy etc. But, she can now eat off of our plate and try lots of new things. I told her she was about to experience a whole new world...she mostly just knows about pureed fruits and veggies :) We are so proud of how well she is doing and love her more everyday!! It is amazing to think that she has been in the world for just as long (actually one day longer) than she was in my belly. She has changed so much in the last month. Her personality has certainly developed and she keeps us laughing everyday. She is a pretty cool little girl and I am honored to say she is my daughter!!!! I love you Campbell!

Grandpa's boat has a new Captain

Campbell decided that she was old enough to learn how to drive Grandpa and Mimi's boat. She did a great job and enjoyed every bit of it! Here is a picture of her playing the role of Captain Campbell :) We had not been out to the lake in a month or so and we weren't sure how Campbell would do. But, she LOVED the boat and being outside...

All Aboard!

Emma the Skunk...

So we went to the lake this weekend to enjoy a beautiful fall weekend. We had a blast, however, Emma decided that instead of being a dog, she would like to be a skunk for the weekend. Apparently a skunk had sprayed in our neighbors front yard. Emma did not get sprayed directly, but found the spot where the skunk sprayed and rolled in it not one, not two, not three, BUT FOUR different times throughout the weekend. Our prissy dog Emma...I couldn't believe it! Needless to say, she smelled SO bad all weekend. We gave her four different baths trying to get the smell away. We had to resort to a special recipe given to Heather from Jack's vet (Jack had a smelly epidsode earlier in the summer that lasted much longer than one weekend...but that is a whole other story) made up of baking powder, dawn soap, and hydrogen peroxide. It did the trick and Emma is back to smelling good. Everyone pretty much avoided her all weekend because she smelled so bad...she was a little sad by the end of the weekend and could not understand why no one wanted to be around her...poor baby! Here is a picture of her getting her "special recipe" bath...she was NOT HAPPY!

Two peas in a pod....

Campbell absolutely loves Emma!! She pretty much thinks she hung the moon....however, Emma has never been too interested in being around Campbell or getting to know her...UNTIL Campbell was introduced to finger foods. NOW, Emma thinks Campbell is pretty cool and lurks aroung her quite often in the hopes that a cheerio or goldfish might drop. I love it! Campbell and Emma now have a shared love for each other and it warms my heart.

Daddy's home!!!!!

Yay....Eric made it home safely from Luxembourg (above is a picture of Luxembourg...beautiful). He got home on Friday around 3:00 pm. Campbell and I were anxiously waiting for him at the airport. We were so excited to see him and he was just as excited to see us. He commented on how much Campbell had changed in just the last 2 weeks. We are glad to have him home and had a fun weekend spending some quality family time together. Below are some pictures from our weekend. We went to dinner Friday night and went to bed early...Eric was still trying to get back on our time. I made him go to sleep on Friday night at 7:45 so he would be ready to go on Saturday morning. We spent Saturday hanging around the house watching the A&M game (don't want to talk about how bad we are) and having some friends over. Sunday we watched the Cowboy game (our 2nd team of the weekend to lose) and Campbell played hard. She is so entertaining these days!! Very silly and still very loud...we are a little worried that she is going to turn into a wild child in her teenage years. Eric took Monday off and we went to get pumpkins at the pumkin patch near our house. I had to promise Eric before he left for Luxembourg that I would not buy Campbell's first pumpkin until he got home. So we did that today. Unlike our last trip to the pumpkin patch, not tears were shed today....she loved every bit of it....especially her first ride in a wagon. We have a feeling that based the joy she showed today, Santa will be bringing her a wagon for Christmas! It is so great to have Eric home and I have such an imense amount of respect for all of those single moms out there. Thanks to Eric for being such a great husband and daddy and welcome home!!!!

Eric and Campbell at the airport...could they look anymore alike?

Thank you!

I am so lucky to have such amazing friends. My friend Kimmy (Braydon's mom) came over tonight to make me dinner and help out with Campbell. She played with her, fed her, and gave her a bath, which gave me some time to relax. It was great! Sadly, I was most excited just to have someone else at the house to talk to tonight :) THANKS KIMMY!!!! I will be sure to return the favor sometime.

Random pics for daddy...

So Eric is pretty homesick and asked for some more pictures of Campbell. Here are a few pictures of her that shows off her silly smile. She has been so good while Eric has been gone (thankfully), but I know she misses her daddy and can't wait to see him on Friday!!! Enjoy the pics Eric and I'll keep them coming so you can get your Campbell fix until you get home.

Our Sunday...

Campbell and I went to her cousin Quinn's soccer game today. Quinn did amazing and her team won something like 12 to 0. Her team is super good and of course we think Quinn is the best player on the team. Here are some pics from the game...Go Quinn!!

Campbell and Nana

Me, Campbell, and cousin Will

The rest of the day was spent playing. Here is a good picture of Campbell on all fours. She is SO ready to crawl, but hasn't quite figured it out yet. I know she is so ready to take off and be able to explore on her own...I'll keep you updated on the crawling. And, thanks to Aunt Heather for coming over so I could go for my run. Heather said she was so silly the whole time. I have a funny video of her from when I got home from the run that I will post later. Gotta love it when the little one is in a good mood :)

I'm back!

I finally got my new computer so I am back to the blogging! I just posted a slide show of pictures that Lauren took of Holden and Campbell at the pumpkin patch. Campbell has decided that she doesn't like to get her picture taken, unless I am right next to her, so she pretty much cried the whole time. However, we were still able to get some good ones of her looking somewhat happy :) Holden was great the whole time and loved climbing all over the pumpkins. Thanks to Lauren for taking these pics and enjoy!

Well, I have been without internet for a few days... my computer crashed! Great timing right? Sorry Eric :) Lauren and I went to the a pumkin patch with the babies yesterday and took some pictures. I only have time to post this one as as I am at kinkos and Campbell is about done. I am hoping to get my new computer tomorrow and then I will post some more.

Here's a little picture story of our trip to the swings today!

Clap, Clap, Clap

We have been working on teaching Campbell to clap her hands for a while and I think she finally got it! She was very proud of herself :) We miss you Eric!

Mastering the puffs

Campbell has finally figured out how to get her Gerber puffs from the table to her mouth. I used to have to put them in her mouth for her. Way to go Campbell...I see more finger foods in your future!

Kappa baby reunion

As many of your know, when I was pregnant with Campbell, four of my sorority sisters were also pregnant. We got all five babies together last week while Nicole and Avery were in town. It is amazing to see how much the babies have grown. Some highlights from the reunion include: Brooks pulling Campbell's hair, Holden crawling all over Avery (literally), Harper being very chill, well behaved, and observant (Erin says she is like this because her older sister Reese does everything for her), and the moms trying to capture a picture of all of them together while all the babies brokeout in a crying fit! We had a blast :)

Here is the order in the picture...Campbell, Harper, Brooks, Avery, Holden

Music to my ears...

Here is a video I took yesterday of Campbell laughing. Please diregard my complete lack of musicality and enjoy!

A new blogger...

Apparantly having a family blog is the new thing to do...so, with the urging of my friends I am caving into the peer pressure and jumping on the bandwagon. Welcome to The Burgess Family Blog! I have always been much more of a lurker than a blogger, but I decided that this would be a great way to keep my friends and family (who are always begging for more pictures of Campbell) updated on what is going on in our lives and how our precious Campbell is growing. I also cannot think of a better way to archive bits and pieces of Campbell's life for us, and her, to look back on over the years. She is growing so quickly and I love that we will be able to look back at the pictures and videos posted on the site and reflect on her life. So, I am officially a blogger! I hope that you will visit our site often and I will do my best to keep it updated!

So why now...? Some of you may be wondering why I decided to start our blog now. Well, unfortunately Eric has been placed on a project in Luxembourg (hence the Luxembourg clock to the right). He is leaving today and will be gone for 2, possibly 3, weeks. So, I thought a blog would be a good way for him to access pictures and videos of Campbell anytime he gets homesick. It is the first time he has been away from Campbell for this long and I know he is going to miss her terribly. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers as Eric travels and I embark on being a single mom for the next few weeks...this should be interesting!
