Our weekend at Grand Lake

We went up to Grand Lake in Oklahoma this past weekend to visit Eric's family. We always have the best time up there spending time with Uncle Bob, Aunt Vicki, Matthew and Michael. Unfortunately Micheal wasn't able to make it this year. Uncle Bob was generous enough to send his plane down to get us...we are very spoiled! We spent lots of time on the boat and in the water and Campbell had a blast with her cousins! Quinn and Will are so good with her and always look out for her. It was so great to see them all playing together. Ella did very well overall, but was exhausted and pretty far off of her schedule by the end of the weekend. She is such a trooper! Special thanks to Uncle Bob and Aunt Vicki for their hospitality. We had so much fun and appreciate how well they always treat us when we are there.

Ella 8 months old

This has been quite a month for sweet Ella! She had her first bladder infection and several tests done that were not so pleasant. She was diagnosed with Stage 2 Vesicoureteral Refluc, or urinary reflux (see previous post). It was a rough month because she was sick for half of it. I am so glad we finally figured out what was wrong and now she is back to happy Ella! Here is what she has been up to over the last month:

We stopped nursing :( After she went on a nursing strike when she got sick my milk supply got all messed up. I sadly decided it was time to wean her to bottles. After a few rough days, she is doing great with bottle feeding!

She is VERY curious! She wants to see, touch and eat everything!!! I have a feeling that I am going to have to do some serious baby proofing once she starts crawling.

She loves her cereal and baby food.

She is so loud (I mean crazy loud) and LOVES to hear her own voice.

She still smiles ALL the time and at everyone...I just love this quality about her.

She started taking miralax to help with her constipation issues.

She is sleeping from 7 to 7 and takes 2 naps a day. The naps are usually around 9 or 9:30 and 1 or 1:30. It all depends when she gets up for the day and how long her naps are.

She is now in a big girl carseat. She is in Campbell's old Britax marathon and we got Campbell a new carseat, the Britax Frontier, which I love!

Ella and Campbell are interacting more and more. They truly love and entertain each other. Campbell yells "baby sister" when she sees her and Ella gets a HUGE smile on her face! Campbell played peek-a-boo in the car with her last night and they both just laughed and laughed. It was so sweet it brought a tear to my eye :)

She is still a chunky monkey. She was 18 pounds when we weighed her about a week or so ago. She is wearing 9-12 month clothes, but mostly 12 month. I bought her a pair of 12-18 month shorts at old navy the other day and they fit perfectly! Love this chunk :)

Ella's test results

We had Ella's VCUG test yesterday. This is the test where they fill her bladder with dye via a catheter and take x-rays to see if the bladder kicks any of the dyed urine back up into her kidneys. Unfortunately they did see some reflux. She was diagnosed with Stage 2 Vesicoureteral Reflux (urinary reflux) on both sides. They give each patient a rating from 0 to 5, with 5 being the worst. So, we are pretty lucky that Ella is only a 2. Basically the valves on her bladder are not working properly so they are allowing urine to be kicked back up into the kidneys which causes urinary track infections. In order to prevent recurring infections, she will have to be on a antibiotic for a year. She will be rechecked in a year to see if the valves have matured enough to eliminate the reflux. Now, giving Ella an antobiotic everyday for a year is a big deal for me. I don't even like giving my girls Tylenol. But, I figure there could be much worse things wrong and I am blessed that this is something minor and something that she will probably grow out of. They say that infants with stage 1 and 2 will usually grow out of it...that is our hope! Our Dr. has referred us to a urologist. Since she is so young, he wants to make sure that we are taking the right course of treatment. We will hopefully get in to see one in the next few weeks. They also said that if one sibling has this condition it is common for other siblings to have it. Campbell has never had a bladder infection, but if she does get one she will have to be tested for this conditional as well. For now, Ella is happy and infection free.

4th of July

We had a great 4th of July weekend at the lake this year. It was our first 4th of July at Cedar Creek Lake as we usually go up to Grand Lake in Oklahoma to visit Eric's family for the 4th. It didn't work out to go up there this year, however, we are going up there this upcoming weekend and can't wait. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't the best this weekend so we spent a lot of time hanging out around the house. The sun finally came out on Sunday and we spent some nice time out on the lake and in the water. We watched fireworks in the boat out on the lake on Saturday and Sunday night. Campbell loved the fireworks and kept saying "fireworks go up in sky go boom!" Ella was fast asleep at home by the time the fireworks started and Eric was nice enough to stay home with her :) There was also a neat airshow over the lake that my dad, Heather, Heather's boyfriend Matt, and Eric got to go watch on Saturday evening before the fireworks. Luckily the girls were great all weekend! We had a blast relaxing and playing.
